For those who have read The Walking Dead comics, keep reading. For those who are strictly TV fans, do NOT read on. SPOILER ALERT!
So in conducting my daily zombie research today, I came across
this article about Jon Bernthal, the actor who plays Shane. Apparently he has been signed on to a new film project that begins filming in Louisiana in early December.

Now, while plenty of actors juggle the demands of both film and TV at the same time, might this be a sign of things to come? Might we finally see the oh-so-dramatic end of the first trade that many of us have been craving since episode 1.6? Is there a reason that Bernthal has the time to involve himself in a new project? What do you think? And if it's going to happen (I think it will), will it happen in the same way it goes down in the comic? Is AMC that gutsy? Your thoughts, please!
I don't know...they're still shooting season 2, which means that they must almost be wrapping pretty soon. So I think he would most likely have December open to shoot a movie as that would be during the WD hiatus.
ReplyDeleteI personally think they'll keep him alive. I have a feeling that they're going to kind of use Shane to be Rick. I don't think they're going to make Rick be nearly as hard edged or as unhinged as he kind of gets in the comics. I think they're going to keep Shane around to do the darker things Rick does in the comic so that they can keep him as more the "hero" on TV.
Also, Kirkman has kind of said he loves keeping Shane around because it keeps everything uncertain...that you can't trust the comic storyline as a spoiler since he's still alive.
Now let's get down to serious business and talk about how awesome Daryll is. :)
Oh, he is so awesome. Like SO awesome. If they kill him off, I'll be pissed.
ReplyDeleteI know...when Andrea shot him in the head, Jenny was SO pissed. He's like super bad ass awesome.
ReplyDeleteSo I just read this and now I see where you're coming from. I disagree with Kirkman, though. I feel like the longer Shane sticks around, the longer the story takes on a romantic/love triangle tone.

Agreed. I think it's happening next week, regardless of what others say.
ReplyDeleteI don't think so....unless they decide to have that be the end of mid-season cliff hanger shot.
ReplyDeleteThere's just not enough build up with Carl and his gun training and such...and I really don't see a huge fight between Shane and Rick happening. Shane's even got a new girl to fixate on now which, if nothing else, will help further dispel the tension between him/Rick/Lori. And I think they (the writers) like the new Dale/Shane tension and may want to play with that triangle for awhile.
I think next week will focus on the barn and the group not wanting to leave the farm. Maybe Shane takes the stance of making them keep them and Rick takes the we'll leave stance.
Well I'd lay good money that he won't make it out of the second season.
